As
Missionaries of the Sacred Heart,
we must be
convinced
of the
necessity of a deep interior life
that is
open to the Holy Spirit,
so that we
may grow in faith and knowledge
of the
mystery revealed in the Heart of Christ.
This will
give us the strength
to remain
faithful to the mission
and spirit
of the society
MSC
Constitutions, 14

Prayer will be regarded by all members
not only as an
indispensable element
of their own life
but also as the foundation and
support
of their community life and mission.
MSC Constitutions, 137

In and through the Eucharist,
God renews his Covenant
with us
and we renew the gift of ourselves to him.

The centre of our lives
Prayer is at the very centre of our lives as a small MSC
community. Our daily celebration of Eucharist and community prayer
both express and nourish our faith in Christ who loves us, calls us and
missions us. As we meditate on God's word proclaimed afresh to us
each day it challenges us to see and praise His hand at work in Aston
and in the
larger world about us, to worship Him in spirit and truth, to recognise His
plans and designs for peace, justice, integrity and love, to follow His
invitation to spend quiet time in His presence, and bring to Him in
intercession the many persons, situations and events we encounter each
day. A central element in our prayer time each day is faith
sharing - being enriched by each other as we share our understanding of
God's word and how it finds echoes in our own hearts.
The heart of discernment
Prayer is also very much at the heart of our time of
discernment as we seek to understand the Lord's will for us as we
establish ourselves here in Aston. We are able to bring our daily
experiences and encounters, our ongoing reading and study,
as well as our sharing and conversations with others into our personal and communal
times of prayer. Here God helps us to know what is essential, guides
us in wisdom, and continues to fashion our hearts in openness to his
will.

Please pray with us and for us
Please pray for us, especially during these months of
immersion, listening and discovery. Each day we take time to pray for our
benefactors, our friends and families, our fellow MSCs, and all who have
asked us to pray for them.
We pray especially each day for those we know who are
sick or in special need.
Please
feel free to contact us with your specific prayer intentions.
